Change demands adaptation. Our planet is changing rapidly evidenced by events that overwhelm the people of places with problems that often require rescue and recovery – sometimes taking many months or even years, if recovery is even possible. Mapping and managing from the geospatial perspective is absolutely essential to decrease the risk for responders, and make recovery possible in the most efficient ways.
Have you thought about your “place” and what risks exist? What steps are involved for recovery if you have bad weather or other natural disasters impact your “place”?
Part one is thinking about potential scenarios. Part two is formulating a process for approaching impact assessment, response, and recovery. Part three is acting on the plan when and if the need arises.
What’s your story? How will you respond in the event of a disaster in your “place”?
